Apply to be a Health Sciences Faculty Fellow

The Office of Research Health Sciences Faculty Fellow advances WSU’s health sciences research enterprise by working directly with the WSU system Office of Research to foster collaboration, strengthen faculty development, increase research competitiveness, and expand impact systemwide. 

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Promote faculty engagement in OR initiatives by serving as a liaison between health sciences faculty and research leadership, helping investigators identify opportunities, resources, and strategic collaborations, particularly for large multi-investigator awards. 
  2. Support faculty development and research capacity building through proposal development, team science facilitation, and activities that enhance productivity, funding success, and leadership development. 
  3. Increase the visibility and impact of WSU health sciences research by representing OR in meetings, workshops, stakeholder engagements, and partnerships with healthcare, community, industry, government, and funding organizations. 
  4. Partner with OR leadership, health sciences administrators, faculty, researchers, extension, and staff to develop and implement strategies that strengthen WSU’s health sciences research enterprise and institutional competitiveness systemwide. 

Qualifications

  • Associate / Full Professor (CT or TT) in relevant / related field/s 
  • Demonstrated scholarly achievement and external funding success. 
  • Proven leadership of research programs, teams, or centers. 
  • Commitment to advancing interdisciplinary collaboration and faculty mentorship. 
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills. 
  • Ability to connect faculty, administrators, community partners, and external stakeholders. 
  • Engagement in advancing institutional research goals and strategic priorities. 
  • Support from your Department Chair / School Director and Associate Dean for Research 

Compensation

Compensation will be $15,000 for a 12-month appointment, through a temporary salary increase for the additional duties and responsibilities. The fellowship is not intended to buy out faculty workload.
