New developments in subawards streamlines processes

We have some new and exciting developments regarding subawards. Here’s a key point to remember about the compliance of WSU subawards. Each prime award sponsor has different pass-through requirements. How do we navigate these requirements and track WSU’s compliance?

Workday has helped to consolidate all these different pieces into a one-stop shop. With the introduction of Workday, we can upload not only invoices, but also the different pieces of documentation that are part of the risk assessment and monitoring requirements. Anyone with access can see the risk level, the last audit and/or risk assessment, and whether an invoice was paid.

Workday has streamlined and bridged the gaps that WSU had in our previous system and provides transparency for all stakeholders – both our central units and those within the departments. We are very excited to have this new tool which provides one place for documents and information.

Additional features coming soon to further enhance our subawards:

  • An updated subaward initiation form will incorporate the new NSF PAPPG Chapter II.E.9 requirement that a Plan for a Safe and Inclusive Work Environment for Off-Campus or Off-Site Research be in place for all participating subawards when appropriate.
  • We are working to implement a new subaward numbering system to help streamline the amendment process and ease the confusion when dealing with Workday SPC numbers.
