Core services available to WSU scientists

The WSU Center for Reproductive Biology offers core services to scientists at WSU and outside of the university. The center’s core laboratories offer an extensive list of services including design and implementation of CRISPR/Cas9, expertise in generating and preserving gene-edited and genetically modified models, embryo microinjection and micromanipulation, advanced DNA sequencing, single cell RNA and ATAC libraries, RNA/DNA analysis, geospatial analysis, real-time qPCR, flow cytometry services.

Core services available include:

Animal Production Core A range of services for generating and preserving gene-edited and genetically modified models. Directed by Miranda Bernhardt.

Fluorescent Activated Cell Sorting (FACS) Core FACS machines available to the WSU community on a fee-for-service basis. Directed by Jon Oatley, managed by Melissa Oatley.

Gene Editing Reagent Core (GERC) Fee-based services to assist investigators with gene editing research and other research vectors. Also offers single cell library preparation. Directed by Lisette Maddison.

Laboratory for Biotechnology and Bioanalysis Molecular Biology and Genomics Core Molecular biology and next generation DNA sequencing tools available to WSU investigators. Co-Directed by Derek Pouchnik and Michael Griswold.

Other available resources through the center:

  • Microscope maintenance services – The center coordinates a yearly visit by Pacific Microsystems, LLC for maintenance, cleaning, and instruction on how to maintain your microscope. Contact Carolyn Emerson or call 509-335-2473 for more information.
  • Imaging resources – Imaging services are offered through the WSU School of Molecular Biosciences. Confocal microscopy is available for use by center members through the lab of Dr. Eric Shelden. Contact Dr. Eric Shelden or call 509-335-2368 for scheduling information.
  • Histology resources – Equipment is available to center members for generating cross-sections from fixed tissues, including paraffin embedding apparatuses, microtomes, and cryostats (supplies will be charged to the PI). Contact Jeanene Deavila or call 509-335-0675 for scheduling information.
