Research Leadership Program prepares mid-career faculty for large multidisciplinary projects

The second annual cohort of the Research Leadership Program (RLP) recently wrapped up the fall semester of their training program. Hosted by the Office of Research Advancement and Partnerships (ORAP), the RLP is a year-long program for mid-career faculty to learn the communication, interpersonal, organization, and project-planning skills required to lead large multidisciplinary projects.

This year’s cohort, consisting of 22 faculty across the university’s six campuses, attended an 8-session research leadership course offered by the AtKisson Training Group this fall. In the spring, faculty will attend monthly sessions hosted by ORAP and research leaders within the university to learn strategies for building effective multidisciplinary teams, large project design and management, and the process of securing institutional resources at WSU.
