Research Strengths at WSU

The Office of Research, in partnership with college leadership, has developed a list of examples of WSU research strengths as a framework for communication of research excellence to identify opportunities for strategic advancement.

Research strengths are areas in which WSU has a significant presence (e.g., volume of activity, uniqueness, and/or reputation) nationally and/or internationally.

Research strengths are not an investment strategy nor a priority list for investment. Research strengths are not just multidisciplinary, and they are not simply advertisements of selected areas. Research strengths are examples of notable areas of research at WSU. These example strengths are meant to be a fluid framework for advancing plans for communications, development, industry and government relations. The overarching goal for the exercise of developing a list of example research strengths is to create a culture of promoting research excellence and growing research by identifying contemporary funding opportunities and building partnerships.
