SUMMARY:2017 New Faculty Seed Grant Information Session
DESCRIPTION:Are you a junior faculty member looking to develop your research\, scholarly or creative program? \nThen register for this information session on the 2017 New Faculty Seed Grant Program. \nRegister Here \nThis opportunity will support you in developing programs that have a strong potential to lead to sustained projects and enhance opportunities for extramural funding for these projects. The program also supports identification and submission of proposals to potential external funding sources\, helps generate preliminary data to support proposals for external funding\, and provides a means to enhance research\, scholarly and creative activities. \nResearchers\, scholars and artists who have been appointed to a junior level faculty position no earlier than May 16\, 2013 are encouraged to apply. A total of $200\,000 has been allocated for the 2017 New Faculty Seed Grant Program. Individual grants may not exceed $30\,000 and proposals for smaller amounts are encouraged and considered equally competitive. \nGuidelines and Application (docx) \nQuestions can be directed to Maureen Bonnefin and Emily Brashear at res.dev@wsu.edu.

SUMMARY:CAREER Proposal Development Course
DESCRIPTION:The Office of Research Advancement and Partnerships (ORAP) is beginning enrollment into its eight week proposal development program for NSF CAREER proposals. We offer this to all faculty at all locations and it is FREE! This course is not open to postdoctoral fellows or graduate students. The course will meet every Wednesday\, starting on February 15th at 11:30am in Lighty 280. \nContact Emily Brashear (emily.brashear@wsu.edu) for a synopsis of the program and a registration form. Enrollment is limited\, so please contact us as soon as possible to reserve your spot in the course. The program is relatively intense. It is designed to not only assist you with developing a stellar CAREER proposal\, but also to provide you with grantsmanship skills applicable to other grant mechanisms. \nWe’ve expanded the scope of the program since last year\, so it will still be of value to those who participated in the past. There will be even more focus on how to distinguish your proposal from the myriad of other proposals that reviewers will see. There will also be more emphasis on integrating the scientific merit with broader impacts\, and writing these components will be done simultaneously with guidance from the ORAP group. Accordingly\, we believe you will find additional value and we encourage you to enroll. \nSkype for Business is available for those interested in attending from locations outside of Pullman.

SUMMARY:2018 New Faculty Seed Grant Q&A Session
DESCRIPTION:Join us to learn more about the 2018 New Faculty Seed Grant Program and have your questions answered. An informational session will be held on November 7th from noon to 1pm in the Lighty 280 conference room. Register for the session below. \nThe primary goal of this program is to support junior level faculty in developing research\, scholarly\, or creative programs that have a strong potential to lead to sustained projects while enhancing opportunities for extramural funding for these projects. The program helps generate preliminary data that provides the foundation needed to submit proposals to external agencies\, and provides a means to advance complex research\, scholarly and creative activities. \nResearchers\, scholars and artists who have been appointed to a junior level faculty position no earlier than May 16\, 2014 are encouraged to apply. A total of $200\,000 has been allocated for the 2018 New Faculty Seed Grant Program. Individual grants may not exceed $25\,000 and proposals for smaller amounts are encouraged and considered equally competitive. \nA Notice of Intent (NOI) is required this year and must be submitted by 5pm December 7\, 2017 in order to be considered for this program. Late NOIs will not be accepted. \nGuidelines for applying and the application can be found at https://research.wsu.edu/resources-researchers/orap/new-faculty-seed-grant/. Questions can be directed to Maureen Bonnefin and Emily Brashear at res.dev@wsu.edu. \nRSVP now!
