{"id":9506,"date":"2022-02-22T15:01:37","date_gmt":"2022-02-22T23:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stagewp.research.wsu.edu\/research-wds\/?page_id=9506"},"modified":"2022-02-22T15:01:37","modified_gmt":"2022-02-22T23:01:37","slug":"hydrogen-hubs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.wsu.edu\/operations\/hydrogen-hubs\/","title":{"rendered":"Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs: Fueling the Clean Energy Future"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act appropriates $8,000,000,000 for the formation of at least four regional clean hydrogen hubs across the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each clean hydrogen hub will be \u201ca network of clean hydrogen producers, potential clean hydrogen consumers, and connective infrastructure located in close proximity.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/117\/plaws\/publ58\/PLAW-117publ58.pdf\">IIJA, 2021.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wsu-spacing-before--xlarge wp-block-heading\">Key Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wsu-spacing-before--xlarge wp-block-heading\">Feedstock Diversity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>At least 1 regional clean hydrogen hub shall demonstrate the production of clean hydrogen from fossil fuels<\/li><li>at least 1 regional clean hydrogen hub shall demonstrate the production of clean hydrogen from renewable energy; and<\/li><li>at least 1 regional clean hydrogen hub shall demonstrate the production of clean hydrogen from nuclear energy.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wsu-spacing-before--xlarge wp-block-heading\">End-Use Diversity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>At least 1 regional clean hydrogen hub shall demonstrate the end-use of clean hydrogen in the electric power generation sector;<\/li><li>at least 1 regional clean hydrogen hub shall demonstrate the end-use of clean hydrogen in the industrial sector;<\/li><li>at least 1 regional clean hydrogen hub shall demonstrate the end-use of clean hydrogen in the residential and commercial heating sector; and<\/li><li>at least 1 regional clean hydrogen hub shall demonstrate the end-use of clean hydrogen in the transportation sector.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wsu-spacing-before--xlarge wp-block-heading\">Geographic Diversity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Each regional clean hydrogen hub:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>shall be located in a different region of the United States; and<\/li><li>shall use energy resources that are abundant in that region.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wsu-spacing-before--xlarge wp-block-heading\">Employment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Priority will be given to regional clean hydrogen hubs that are likely to create opportunities for skilled training and long-term employment to the greatest number of residents of the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act appropriates $8,000,000,000 for the formation of at least four regional clean hydrogen hubs across the United States.
