Steps may be necessary to comply with export control laws. Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/ora.wsu.edu\/regulations-analysis\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ora.wsu.edu\/regulations-analysis\/\">export controls decision tree <\/a>to determine what measures are needed for compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sponsor approval<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you need written approval from your sponsor before traveling to another country? Check with the <a href=\"http:\/\/research.wsu.edu\/operations\/contact\/\">Office of Research Support and Operations<\/a>&nbsp;coordinator to determine if sponsor approval is necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Medical coverage while you are overseas<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty and staff can reach out to Risk Management about International Travel Insurance while students can reach out to International Programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Guidance when traveling with technology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>WSU strongly recommends that the baseline precautions outlined here are adhered to during international travel to reduce risk to yourself and to the University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to traveling, determine if the U.S. Department of State has issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/international-travel\/before-you-go.html\">travel advisory<\/a> for the country that you are planning to travel to. If you have questions about this information, please contact your local IT support personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/research.wsu.edu\/operations\/traveling-with-technology-general-guidance\/\">Traveling with technology: general guidance<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Faculty, students, and staff who are involved in international travel should always use general precautions to protect themselves and their technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/research.wsu.edu\/operations\/traveling-with-technology-countries-with-travel-advisories-guidance\/\">Traveling with technology: countries with travel advisories guidance<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Extra precautions are advised if the U.S. Department of State has issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/international-travel\/before-you-go.html\">travel advisory<\/a> for the country that you are planning to travel to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Fly America Act<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Fly America Act is a federal regulation stating that any foreign air travel financed by federal funds must be booked on U.S. air carriers, regardless of cost or convenience. The principal investigator (PI) or his\/her designee is responsible for ensuring that all air travel charged to federal-funded accounts are in compliance with this regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compliance with the Fly America Act is the responsibility of each traveler.
