{"id":10686,"date":"2025-09-09T12:05:57","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T19:05:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.wsu.edu\/operations\/?page_id=10686"},"modified":"2025-09-09T12:49:32","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T19:49:32","slug":"proposal-submission-quick-reference","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/research.wsu.edu\/operations\/proposal-submission-quick-reference\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposal Submission Quick Reference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Review Window and Deadlines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Proposals eREXs must be fully approved and submitted to ORSO no later than 9:00 a.m., five business days before the sponsor\u2019s deadline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Business days are Monday\u2013Friday, 8:00 a.m.\u20135:00 p.m., excluding university holidays or closures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the sponsor deadline falls on a non-business day, proposals must be received by ORSO five business days before the last business day prior to the deadline (or as required by sponsor guidelines).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Areas\/campuses are encouraged to set internal deadlines of 3\u20135 business days earlier to support timely submissions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Waivers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>A waiver is required if proposals are submitted with fewer than five business days before the sponsor\u2019s deadline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Acceptable waiver reasons include: official university closures, serious illness\/injury\/death of key personnel or family, or funding opportunities announced less than two weeks before the deadline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Waivers must include written justification and be endorsed through the full approval chain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Narrative Hold<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Eligible proposals may continue to use the Narrative Hold option for technical sections, with final versions of those documents uploaded and ORSO notified no later than 9:00 a.m. on the business day before the sponsor\u2019s deadline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guidance for this process is available in the ORSO Narrative Hold Policy information on the ORSO Guidelines Index website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Executive Signatures<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>PIs are responsible for obtaining any documents requiring executive-level signatures (e.g., letters of support).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Signatures from Vice Presidents, Chancellors, the Provost, or the President require at least four weeks for processing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proposals lacking required executive signatures by the review deadline are considered incomplete.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example Timelines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Below are three examples of proposal deadlines and their updated eREX deadlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><thead><tr><th class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">If the proposal is due&#8230;<\/th><th class=\"has-text-align-right\" data-align=\"right\">&#8230;the approved eREX deadline is:<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">Friday, November 7, at 5 p.m.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-right\" data-align=\"right\">Monday, November 3, at 9 a.m.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">Monday, November 17, at 12&nbsp;p.m.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-right\" data-align=\"right\">Monday, November 10, at 9&nbsp;a.m.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td class=\"has-text-align-left\" data-align=\"left\">Saturday, November 29, at 5&nbsp;p.m.<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-right\" data-align=\"right\">Monday, November 20, at 9&nbsp;a.m.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>*2025-2026 Reduced Operations Schedule \u2014&nbsp;Reduced Operations days will be considered OR Pre-award Business days when determining the approved eREX deadline timeframe.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Review Window and Deadlines Waivers Narrative Hold Executive Signatures Example Timelines Below are three examples of proposal deadlines and their updated eREX deadlines.
