Teaching Team
Lois James is the Assistant Dean for Research in WSU’s College of Nursing. Dr. James’ expertise lies in bias, stress, sleep, and performance in high stress populations such as police officers, military personnel, nurses, and top tier athletes.
Steve James is the Director of the Simulated Hazardous Operational Tasks Lab at WSU. Dr. James’ expertise lies in interactions between law, policy, training and practice relating to operational performance for law enforcement personnel, as well as leadership and the analysis of dynamics of deadly force encounters for police and military.
David A. Makin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice & Criminology and the Director of the Complex Social Interaction Lab at WSU. Dr. Makin is also Research Faculty within the Washington State Institute for Criminal Justice (WSICJ), which is a collaborative effort to advance applied research and innovative public safety practices. His expertise lies in the fields of data analytics of body-worn camera footage, evidence-based policing, technology, public policy, and applied social science research.
