Team LOX Masters

In an emergency, time is the most valuable resource for first responders. Breathable air tank capacity is a primary limiting factor for search and rescue, with current air tanks, providing 30-45 minutes of air for fire, police, and military personnel to enter, respond, and exit an emergency situation. Team LOX, using technology developed at WSU Hyper Lab, have preliminary designs for a state of the art polymer composite tank that could double the air capacity of breathable air tanks while also reducing their weight and volume. Safer. Lighter. More mobility. We also see other markets for this technology: SCUBA diving, stored air for combustion, high-capacity commercial gas storage.

Do you remember eating citrus “dream bars” in hot summer days? Orange, lime or raspberry sherbet blended with vanilla ice cream. What if you could find that same heavenly taste again, but this time in a drink full of electrolytes, low in sugar, and made from Greek yogurt? Greek yogurt is the fastest growing dairy product line in America. The benefits of yogurt consumption are well-documented, but Greek yogurt production results in a large amount of acidic whey; the yogurt industry has no economical solution to utilize this byproduct, but WSU Food Science students have a plan: a new consumer beverage that will remind you of childhood summers while providing as much potassium as a banana, a boost of protein, and only XX calories. Team Ambrosia has proprietary recipes validated by consumer taste panels (including many focused on international palettes) and is ready to partner locally, nationally, and internationally to bring their product to market.

Team PocketLabs

Field chromatography is logistically difficult and expensive. Testing for pathogens, antigens, and other biomarkers requires specialized equipment, electric generators, and lab space that put significant restraints on the logistical efficacy of governmental, NGO and other non-profits. The PocketLabs system allows a mobile response team to be more efficient and reduce the cost of mobile labs.

Team Protium Innovations

The current trend toward more efficient, clean, and green electric vehicles is an admirable goal. However, the current paradigm of battery-electric vehicles has a number of issues for high endurance vehicles, such as warehouse equipment, aircraft, spacecraft, and long-endurance boats. Long charging times, limited range, and low specific energy issues are solved with Team Protium Innovations’ innovative vapor cooled shielded (VCS) hydrogen tanks; when coupled with Protium’s technologies for movable hydrogen liquefaction and refueling, this solution can be placed anywhere in the world.

Team Klar Scientific

Klar Scientific has developed benchtop confocal microscope systems system with integrated optical sources and analysis software devised by Professor McCluskey (patent pending), at an affordable price and with multiple user capability within a large academic, industrial, or government institution. The Team will develop a business model for marketing a line of modular, competitively priced confocal optical profile (COP) microscopes providing customers with the unique capability to use spectroscopy, imaging, and 3D profiling.

Team Momentum

Kaitlyn Engle, Hollie Ross, Mohammad Khamehchi, and Dr. Hang Liu

Momentum has developed airflow control fabric with an innovative multilayered baffle design. It allows the wearer to pull fresh, dry air while pushing out humid air – perfect for face masks and other areas where moisture buildup causes discomfort or usability issues. Their designs may just be part of your next ski mask or sportswear!
