To request a letter of support from the <strong>vice president for research<\/strong>, <strong>provost<\/strong>, or <strong>president<\/strong>, complete the following steps.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-accordion  wsu-accordion--size-small\">\r\n    <h3 id=\"unique-id-1__51311\" class=\"wsu-accordion__title\">\r\n        <button class=\"wsu-accordion__title-button wsu-accordion--toggle\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"unique-id-1__content\">Required Steps<\/button>\r\n    <\/h3>\r\n    <div id=\"unique-id-1__content\" class=\"wsu-accordion__content\" aria-labelledby=\"unique-id-1__51311\">\r\n        <div class=\"wsu-accordion__content-inner\">\r\n            \n\n<ul>\n<li>Submit the request to the Office of Research (<a href=\"mailto:or.orap.servicedesk@wsu.edu\">or.orap.servicedesk@wsu.edu<\/a>) at least 4 weeks prior to the eREX deadline. The final, signed letter must be included with the proposal package submitted at the eREX deadline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your request must include approval from your College Associate Dean for Research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide the following in the request: \n\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The request for applications (RFA, or equivalent), highlighting the section describing the required letter of support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Specifically call out any required commitment of material resources (e.g., matching funds, access to space or equipment).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A draft letter in Word format following the RFA requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n        <\/div>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading  wsu-heading--style-marked\">Community-Engaged Research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Community-Engaged Research (CER) is at the heart of WSU&#8217;s mission as a land-grant institution. The Office of Research supports community engaged research in a variety of ways including through the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.wsu.edu\/advancement\/research-initiatives\/inspire-cer-program\/\">INSPIRE! community-engaged research initiative<\/a>, which provides training to faculty and seed funding for CER. Our office has also compiled a set of guidelines to help researchers interested in adopting a CER approach to get a sense of some definitions and best practices.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-cta \" >\n\t<a \t\t\t\t\thref=\"https:\/\/research.wsu.edu\/advancement\/research-resources\/cer-guidelines\/\"\t\n\t\tclass=\"wsu-button  wsu-button--style-action\">\n\t\t\t\n\t\tCommunity-Engaged Research Guidelines\t\t\t<\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading  wsu-heading--style-marked\">Broader Impacts of Research Activities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In alignment with WSU\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/strategy.wsu.edu\/strategic-plan\/mission-beliefs-and-values\">land-grant mission<\/a>, the Office of Research is committed to supporting the broader impacts of WSU research enterprise through consideration of all viewpoints, multiple knowledge types, and the differential experiences of the communities with whom we collaborate.
