Commercialization Gap Fund Letter of Intent due July 24

The application process is now open for the FY2021 Commercialization Gap Fund (GCF). The CGF awards researchers up to $40,000, with a maximum of $2,000 allocated towards business development activities, to those that demonstrate that their innovation(s) have the ability to make an economic impact in our society.

The CGF is intended to be the final funding step for near market-ready technologies in the areas of cleantech, engineering, human and animal health, agricultural and/or information technologies. Funds will be distributed using a milestone-driven process with stipulated goals reached before the next funding increment is approved.

The CGF program demonstrates the threefold mission of WSU’s commitment to its land-grant university heritage and tradition of service to society. The transfer of technologies to commercial entities allows valuable knowledge to be applied through local and global engagement. This knowledge has the potential to improve lives and enhance the economies of Washington state, the nation, and the world.

The application process consists of three submission stages:
• Letter of Intent
• Pre-Proposal
• Full Proposal (by invite only).

Invitations to submit a full proposal will only be offered to applicants whom submit a letter of intent and pre-proposal according to the timeline. The submission deadline for letters of intent closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 24. To submit a letter of intent, visit https://commercialization.wsu.edu/letter-of-intent/.

The CGF is sponsored by the Office of Commercialization. To learn more about the CGF, visit https://commercialization.wsu.edu/commercialization-gap-fund/.
