Advancing Art in the Inland Northwest

Since 2003, Chris Bruce’s leadership has made Washington State University’s 32-year-old Museum of Art a destination for arts audiences throughout the Inland Northwest. Fulfilling his long-range vision, it has evolved into a “Visitor Center for Creative Studies,” focusing on modern art history, contemporary art, architecture, and design.

Bruce seeks partnership funding for signature exhibitions and publications, and community engagement and educational outreach through the presentation of national and international art to this underserved area. The Museum is also in the early phase of discussions for a new facility.

Bruce has curated exceptional exhibits at WSU, including 3 Degrees of Cool (from the collection of Virginia and Bagley Wright), Jim Dine Sculpture, Roy Lichtenstein Prints 1956-97, and Sound Works by Trimpin. His previous work included setting up the museum arm of Paul Allen’s Experience Music Project and serving as chief curator at the Henry Art Gallery, both in Seattle.
